Prof. Dr. M. Dien Madjid

Prof. Dr. M. Dien Madjid is a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He has expertise and interest in research in history of Islam in colonial era. He completed his bachelor’s degree in the Department of Islamic History and Civilization, IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta(1977). His doctoral degree he obtained from UIN  Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in 2006, by writing and research about Transport of Colonial Period Hajj Pilgrims, End of XIX Century – Early XX Century.

Prof. Dr. Jajat Burhanuddin, M. A

Jajat Burhanuddin received his PhD degree in Islamic Studies, with the thesis on the History of Ulama in Colonial Indonesia from Leiden University, the Netherlands (2007) . He also holds his master’s degree from Leiden University, the Netherlands (1996). He has been researcher and consultant to several Indonesian insitutions: Ministry of Education and Culture, The Republic of Indonesia; Research Bureau, Ministry of Religious Affairs, The Republic of Indonesia; PPIM-UIN Jakarta. He is lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. His courses taught are in History of Islam in Indonesia up to 1600, History of Islam in Indonesia during the Colonial Period, History of Islamic Intellectual Development in Southeast Asia, Historiography, and Muslims Heritage.

Prof. Dr. H. Budi Sulistiono, M. Hum

Prof. Dr. H. Budi Sulistiono, M. Hum has expertise and interest in research about Islamic History and Civilization; archeology-history; social science. He completed his bachelor’s degree in the Department of Islamic History and Civilization, IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. His Master’s degree was obtained in archeology from Universitas Indonesia in 1995. His doctoral he holds from UIN  Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in 2006, by writing and research about The Role of Indonesian Youth in the Struggle to Defend Indonesian Independence Abroad, 1945-1949. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Prof. Drs. Amirul Hadi, MA, Ph.D

Amirul Hadi received his PhD (1999)  and master degree (1992) both of them in The Institute of Islamic Studies, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. His bachelor degree he obtained from Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Ar-Raniry, Banda Aceh. He is lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. His courses taught are in Islamic History and Civilization (Classical, Central and Modern Period), Islamic historiography, Sirah al-Nabi, History of Islam in Southeast Asia and Islamic Study Methods.

Dr. Abd. Chair

Dr. Abd. Chair is a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He was born in Jakarta, 31 December 1954. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1981, his master’s degree in 1987, and his doctoral degree in 1996, all of them in Islamic History and Civilization from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He also join INIS programme from Leiden University, the Netherlands (1990) and workshop management in McGill University, Canada (1997).

Dr. Abd. Wahid Hasyim, M. A

Dr. Abd. Wahid Hasyim, M. A  is a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He was born in Babat, East Java, 17 August 1956.  He received his bachelor’s degree in 1983, his master’s degree in 1996, and his doctoral degree in 2008, all of them in Islamic History and Civilization from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Dr. Amelia Fauzia

Amelia Fauzia has taught and conducted research related to Islamic history of Indonesia, Islamic philanthropy, and contemporary issues of Islam in Indonesia, such as on radicalization, religion, and women. She is a lecturer at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University or UIN Jakarta (commenced in 1999), at the faculty of arts and humanities, and also at the graduate school of at the same campus. She has been Visiting Fellow at the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (UNSW) since 2011 to 2021. Dr Fauzia was a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at Cluster Religion and Globalisation at the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore (2015- 2018). Her previous career is Deputy Director of the Research Institute for Community Outreach (LP2M) of UIN Jakarta (2010- 2015). She is co-founder and executive secretary of Center for Language and Culture (later becomes the Center for the Study of Religion and Culture) from 2000 to 2008 and was Director of the center from 2009 to 2010.  Dr Fauzia holds a PhD in Islamic studies from the University of Melbourne (2009), writing on history of Islamic philanthropy. She was a global project director on Islamic philanthropy for social justice, collaborating six countries (Egypt, India, Indonesia, turkey, Tanzania and UK). She holds a master in Islamic Studies from the University of Leiden, writing and doing research on messianic movements in 19th-20th century Java (1998). She was a Board Member of Indonesia Waqf Board (2012-2018), member of Steering Committee of the Asia Research Institute (ARI), National University of Singapore (2016), Board Member of International Center for Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies ICAIOS (2016-2018), and Board Member of Academic Publication of IRASEC (2018- ). 

Dr. Awalia Rahma, M. A

Dr. Awalia Rahma received her bachelors degree from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta majoring Islamic History and Culture in 1996. Then, in 1999 she holds a master in Islamic Studies from McGill University by doing research on Sufi Order and Resistance Movement: The Sanusiyya of Libya, 1911-1932. She obtained her doctoral degree in Historical Studies at Universitas Indonesia. Her dissertation is about Culture of Drinking Coffee in Java 19th Century to the First Half of the 20th Century: Lifestyle and Identity (2016). Currently, Dr. Awalia works as a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Dr. Fuad Jabali

Dr. Fuad Jabali was born in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia on September 11, 1965. He is a Lecturer at the Department of Islamic History and Culture of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities. His research interest is  the Life of the Prophet, the Prophetic Traditions, Islamic History and Civilization, Methodology in Islamic Studies, Islamic Theology, and Islam and Modern Issues (gender, radicalism, democracy, civil society).  He got his Bachelor in Islamic History and Culture from the Faculty of Adab, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Jakarta (1989), his MA in Islamic Societies and Cultures from School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London (1992), and his PhD in Islamic Studies from Institute of Islamic Studies, McGill University (1999). Since 2001, he is one of the editors of the Indonesian Journal Studia Islamika which is published by PPIM.

Dr. Halid, M. Ag

Dr. Halid, M.Ag. was born in Besuki, Situbondo, East Java, on December 29, 1972. He completed his bachelor’s degree in the Department of Arabic Language Education at IAIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya in 1997. His Master’s degree was obtained in 1999 and Doctoral in 2008; both at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Since 2000, he has been a permanent lecturer at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Aside from being a lecturer, until now he is still active as a researcher, writer, and editor; also a consultant and QC (quality control) at PT Merak Multimedia Jakarta (2006 – 2017) and PT Falcon Publishing (2018 until now).

Jajang Jahroni, M. A., Ph.D

Jajang Jahroni is a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He is also a Researcher at Center for the Study of Islam and Society (PPIM). Jajang received his PhD degree in Cultural Anthropology from Boston University, United States (2015) . He also holds his master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Leiden University, the Netherlands (1999). His bachelor’s degree is in Islamic History and Civilization, IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Jajang Jahroni has also received many scholarships and fellowships as well.

Dr. Parlindungan Siregar, M. A

Dr. Parlindungan Siregar, M. A is a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. He was born in Kota Pinang, 15 January 1959.  He received his bachelor’s degree in 1989, his master’s degree in 1997, and his doctoral degree in 2008, all of them in Islamic History and Civilization from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. His favourite motto is “little is better than none”.

Dr. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, M. A

Dr. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, M. A was born in Kauman Banjarnegara, 3 February 1959. He completed his bachelor’s degree in the Department of Islamic History and Civilization, IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. His Master’s degree was obtained in the Institute of Islamic Studies, McGill University (Montreal, Canada) in 1993. His doctoral he holds from IAIN  Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in 2006.  Besides being a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, he is also the Special Staff Assistant to the Indonesian President for International Religion.

Dr. Zakiya Darojat, M.A

Dr. Zakiya Darojat, M.A received her bachelors degree from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta majoring Arabic Literature in 1998. Her Master’s degree was obtained in 2004 and Doctoral in 2014; both at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Her dissertation is about “Jihad dalam Sejarah Islam Indonesia Kontemporer; Kajian atas Wacana dan Praksis Jihad Gerakan Sosial”. Currently, Dr. Zakiya works as a lecturer at the Departement of Islamic History and Civilization, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
